Capital Field Hockey Supports Morgan's Message

Morgan’s Message is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health in the student-athlete community. The program was founded in honor of Morgan Rodgers, a talented lacrosse player at Duke University who tragically died by suicide in 2019 after silently struggling with her mental health.

Morgan’s Message aims to amplify the stories of student-athletes, provide a platform for open conversations, and ensure that mental health is treated with the same seriousness as physical health. Through peer-led initiatives, awareness campaigns, and school chapters, we strive to build supportive communities where it’s okay to not be okay—and where asking for help is seen as a strength, not a weakness.

As an ambassador or advocate, you’ll be helping to spread this message, plan mental health awareness events, lead meaningful discussions, and most importantly, create a space where teammates and classmates feel seen, heard, and supported.

This is more than a program—it’s a movement. And the Capital Field Hockey League is proud to be a supporter of this amazing organization.

Capital Field Hockey League

Welcome to the Capital Field Hockey League 2026!

The Capital Field Hockey League proudly enters its 33rd year of play. We are excited to once again partner with George Mason University, hosting our league on the Intramural Field #3 Turf Field on GMU’s West Campus, located next to the softball field.

Founded in 1993, the Capital League has built a strong and lasting tradition within the field hockey community. Many of our former players now return as coaches and parents, sharing their stories and helping pass the love of the game on to the next generation.

The mission of the Capital Field Hockey League has always been to provide experienced players with the opportunity to develop and refine their skills through competitive and enjoyable game play. Our league is designed for players who want to challenge themselves while continuing to grow as athletes.

We take great pride in having VHSL-certified officials referee our games. Over the years, we have also supported the growth of the sport by mentoring new and student officials alongside experienced referees.

Each team is supported by one to two coaches on the sidelines during games, offering guidance, instruction, and encouragement to help players perform at their best.
